Tri-Eva is proud to support Gals for Cal, an amazing team of women participating in triathlon and raising money towards ending Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
The Gals for Cal started in 2009 as a few friends of the Quitzau family wanting to do “something” to help their young son, Calvin, who at age 5 was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a fatal genetic disease that is diagnosed in childhood and currently has no treatment or cure. Twenty women got together along with Calvin’s mother to do their first sprint triathlon as a team with the purpose of raising awareness and funds for Duchenne research. Many of the Gals didn’t even know how to swim at the time, but they were inspired by Cal to “live large”, something that he optimistically strives for every day.
They have since raised nearly $100,000, helped 20,000 boys with Duchenne, grown the team dramatically and have added an Olympic-distance race to this year’s list of fundraising events.
We are truly inspired by the Gals for Cal and by kids like Calvin who are making every day count. We think you will be, too.
